Welcome to the all new, mobile edition, of the Cambridge Seventh-day Adventist church website. This edition of our website, is part of our new re-launched website, and is designed to offer a lightweight, mobile friendly browsing experience. Our plan is for this mobile edition of our website to include upcoming events, our contact details (to help find us), and our service times. All this is designed as a quick and easy way of accessing information about us, while on the move.

This new mobile edition, will automatically be shown when you visit our website from a mobile device with internet capabilities, visit out website from a stand-alone computer, and you'll get the more feature rich, visually appealing desktop version which will includes downloads, and free internet TV and radio to name but a few features.

Website Development Update

Just a quick update on the progress of our new website development.

We've resumed work on our bespoke (custom) website design. We abandoned work on it for a couple of months once NetAdventist (the GCs website content management system) became available with a view to use it for our website.

After a couple of months of trialling NetAdventist, and after getting some of our pages online there, we found that although it is good easy maintenance, it's not as customizable and flexible as the bespoke system we've been developing for the past year. As a result, development on this site resumed last week.

A decision will be made, after consultation with the rest of the Church Board, which system is to be used.

So far this week, we've been able to do the following:

Added a Preaching Plan - imported from the NetAdventist implementation, and modified to take advantage of capabilities offered by our bespoke system and not by NetAdventist
Fixed Page Loading Errors - A number of pages where giving not loading saying they couldn't be found, even though they where indeed their.
Fixed Showing Of Debug Data - The display of debug data (to be used only by development team) was not being shown when it was supposed to.
Added Social Networking Elements to Sidebar - Added Twitter and Facebook elements to the sidebar.
Modified Header Graphic - Replaced the Graphic logo used at the top of the page with a static, shorter (vertically) one.
Added "Calendar" Administration link to the Admin menu item
Fixed "Development Status" Page - A Development Status page was created a couple of months ago which was only available when viewing the site in "debug" or "developer" mode. This page can be found in the Admin menu item. However, a bug prevented this page from actually being displayed.
Added Support for Haverhill Church Pages - Improvements made to the websites backend (the framework that makes the site work, and pulls all the "pieces" together) in a number of areas to allow for pages specific to the new Haverhill Church Plant. Pages that'll take advantage of this will include pages such as Preaching Plan and Sunset Calendar.

As you can see, quite a bit of work has already been done in just the last week. Another update (taking the website to version 3.00.08.13000), which is just about complete but is yet to be made live, will:

Make use of the most up-to-date version of SysCheck
Include modified & rearranged links on the tops of pages (modifications not completed in 3.10.08.13000)
Include support for separate Sidebar content for various Departments or even sections of the website (such us to provide navigation links for pages within a Dept.
